We hold regular coffee mornings at the British Embassy and at Koffein throughout the year. All these coffee mornings are held on Tuesdays from 10am to 12noon. Further information is given below.

Our monthly coffee mornings are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month, except during July and August, at the British Embassy from 10 am until 12 noon (confirmed dates listed below). These meetings are informal and there is plenty of time to chat and even to shop, as different artisans are invited each month to sell their wares during the meeting. We also host a book exchange table (with proceeds going to a BWC-supported charity), and we will have some of the new "Living in Moscow" books for sale (2,000R. with proceeds going to charity).
This is also an opportunity to find out what activities and events are on offer for that month and sign-up sheets will be available at these meetings. Old and new members usually go for lunch after these meetings; please ask a committee member for details during the meeting.
Please note that we have limited space and no childcare facilities at the Embassy meetings but, if you are new to Moscow without any childcare arrangements, we will be happy to welcome you and your children to the meeting. We want you to be able to fully enjoy the meetings but, as we cannot provide childcare, please be aware that you remain responsible for looking after your children (especially in terms of safety, with hot drinks being carried around etc.), and keeping them reasonably quiet during the announcements.
If you would like to attend and you are not yet a BWC member, please contact us in advance (by the previous Thursday) at members@bwcmoscow.co.uk as the security guards on the gate will only admit people on our current membership list. The Membership Secretary will send you a reply email to confirm you are on the security list. If you do not receive this email, please contact her or another member of the committee to make sure that you are on the list, otherwise security will not let you in.
Directions to the Embassy: The British Embassy is located on the river bank close to the White House. The entrance to the Embassy is on Protochny Pereulok. The nearest metro station is Smolenskaya - on the number 4 blue line (line number 3, also blue, will take you to the wrong side of the street!). The Embassy is a 5 min. walk from the station.
The next monthly Embassy meeting will be on Tuesday September 14th.
- New members must remember to register by the Thursday before the Embassy meetings!

Please note that we will be moving our weekly coffee mornings to Koffein at 19 Arbat from Tuesday 16th March. This coffee shop is new and is located next door to Starbucks. Please contact newcomers@bwcmoscow.co.uk if you have any queries or would like directions.
Our informal coffee mornings are held at Koffein every Tuesday morning from 10am-12noon throughout the year, except when there is an Embassy meeting (dates given above). These coffee mornings are open to all*: BWC members and non-members, newcomers and old-timers, visiting family and friends. Feel free to just turn up!
New members and existing members will be able to join the BWC at these meetings if a Committee Member is present; please ensure you have your completed membership form with your fee ready.
Koffein address: 19 Stary Arbat*; nearest Metro: Arbatskaya, website: www.koffein.ru. (*"Old" Arbat is the pedestrian street that runs parallel with Novy, or "New", Arbat)
Our additional book exchange at Koffein is informal. You are welcome bring your old books and magazines to to this coffee morning for exchange on our tables instead, otherwise please do take them to the next Embassy meeting, where you will also be able to pick up new books and magazines to take home.
When possible, we will be selling Barbara Spier's new edition of her "Living in Moscow" book at our Koffein and Embassy coffee mornings. This complete guide costs 2,000R. with proceeds going to charity. To check if copies will be available at the next coffee morning, please contact newcomers@bwcmoscow.co.uk. We will have copies of the "in your pocket" guide when possible as well, which is also available online at www.inyourpocket.com, in addition to other information useful for newcomers (and old-timers!).
*Note: our Koffein coffee mornings are aimed at helping expats, particularly newcomers, adjust to living in Moscow. Whilst all are welcome to attend these coffee mornings, they are not suited for people simply wanting to practice their English language skills with native speakers. We can recommend the following as being more suitable for this purpose: the British Council at www.britishcouncil.org/russia, the American Center at www.amc.ru or the English Language Evenings group at email EngLanEveMoscow@yahoo.com.
